Clarkia is sown the best after the last frost of spring is over. The direct sowing method is the way to go with these delicate plants since they don’t take well to transplanting. Pick a sunny area and well-drained soil to plant Clarkia seeds.Gently sprinkle the seeds on the soil and allow them to germinate. This is known as the Surface Broadcast Method. Keep the soil moist until the seedlings start to form leaves. Thin the plants to 9 to 12 inches apart once the second set of leaves begin to grow from the seedlings.To encourage flower growth, make sure that your garden is weed-free. Plant Clarkia seeds in an area of 3 to 6 feet wide if you wish to attract pollinators.
